*On the Road Again*

Storm Chase 2009

We left the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and headed to the serene surroundings of Wyoming and Nebraska.  We may have been traveling, but we were still learning.  We saw virga in Cheyenne, WY as well as Alliance, NE.  It was an extremely unique sight.  Virga is when precipitation is evaporating before it hits the ground.  The evaporation is a cooling process (cold air sinks), causing faster winds to be felt at the surface.

*Mountains @ Sunset*

Storm Chase 2009

After another afternoon of shopping, we went back to the Mountains to view them at sunset.  Apparently, it is a popular time for everyone to come out, even the Elk.

*View from the Top*

Storm Chase 2009

Today, was a fabulous day in the Rocky Mountains!  We awoke to beautiful clear skies, and a picture perfect view!  We saw snow with temperatures feeling like they were in the 60s due to dry air, but it was much colder.  We drove up to 11,800 feet to capture the full view and to have a picnic lunch.

*Rockin to the Rockies*

Storm Chase 2009

Today, we are rockin to the Rockies!  The drive was nothing what I expected.  We were able to view the mountains from 60+ miles away.  Once we arrived in Estes Park, CO we checked into our breathtaking view from the top floor hotel, then went on a tour of the town.  We made a pit stop for a quick round of putt-putt golf (yes, we had some whole in ones!!), then some brave souls decided to go down a HUGE super slide.  After our fun activities, we went into town to SHOP, SHOP. SHOP!  Of course, shopping makes everyone hungry.  We had dinner at a local restaurant, ‘Hunters Chop House’ where many of us ate Elk!  It was actually really tasty, I would get it again!  Today was a fabulous day in the beautiful mountains!  It is amazing view God’s beautiful creation.
